What LingoDesk does

Six parts of a freelance translation business, each with its own page: what the tool does, and what it deliberately does not.

How it works

The job, page by page

Six parts of one job. Each card is the screen you would actually be on.

01

Invoicing

An agency purchase order arrives with a match analysis attached, and this page works the resulting invoice out in full: every band, every multiplication, and the effective per-word rate that falls out at the end.

More about Invoicing
The invoice list, showing issue date, due date, status, total and amount still due for each invoice.

02

Rate Cards

One card per language pair and specialization, attached to the client who accepted it, so that question becomes a lookup instead of an excavation through two years of email.

More about Rate Cards
The rate card list, showing language pair, specialization, per-word rate, hourly rate and currency for each card.

03

Multi-Currency

Invoice a Berlin agency in euros and a Chicago client in dollars, and still read a single revenue figure in the currency your tax return is written in.

More about Multi-Currency
The project list, showing client, language pair, status, specialization and deadline for each project.

04

Deadlines

Your tracking spreadsheet is a genuinely good tool, and this page is about the three things it cannot do for you no matter how many columns you add to it.

More about Deadlines
The deadline calendar, with a month grid beside the list of deadlines falling on the selected day.

05

Reports

Most translators cannot answer that, and it is not a discipline failure: the number is not held in any of the places the work gets recorded.

More about Reports
The revenue report, with a revenue-by-month chart above a table of revenue and invoice counts.

06

Clients

An agency, a direct company and a private individual are three different businesses to invoice, and one record shape that pretends otherwise is why the details end up back in your inbox.

More about Clients
The client list, showing each client with their contact, country, billing currency and payment terms.

What it deliberately is not

LingoDesk is not a CAT tool

LingoDesk manages the business around the work: quotes, invoices, currencies, deadlines, revenue and client records. It never opens a source file, and it stores no translation memories and no glossaries.

That makes it a complement to whichever CAT tool you already use, not a replacement for it. Keep translating where you translate; run the business here.
