  • Invoicing and bookkeeping — Wave, Starter plan Pricing page 0.00$0
  • Invoicing and bookkeeping — FreshBooks, Lite plan Pricing page 23.00$23.00 USD/mo, billed monthly
  • Getting paid — PayPal, United States commercial transaction rates Pricing page 3.49% plus a fixed fee on a domestic PayPal Checkout payment, and a further 1.50% when the payment comes from abroad

Subscriptions alone, before any payment fee30.00

Part of that stack can cost nothing: Wave's Starter plan is $0. Part of it is not: Google Workspace's Business Starter plan and FreshBooks' Lite plan together come to $30.00 a month, before any payment-processing fee. We do not add these figures into a single stack price, because which tools you run is your choice and not ours to assume.

The subscriptions are the visible cost. The other one is the time. The same client, the same project and the same invoice are entered into more than one of these tools, and the totals are reconciled by hand at the end of the month. We have not measured that in hours and we are not going to publish a number we did not measure.

Questions people ask before they pay

What do I actually get for the monthly price?

Clients, projects, invoices and the numbers that come out of them: invoice documents as PDFs carrying your business name, address and bank details, multi-currency invoicing, rate cards, revenue reports and CSV export. Which of those you get depends on the plan, and the grid above lists each plan in full. That list is the one the product bills against, not a longer version written for a website.

Can I change plan or stop paying, and how?

You can cancel at any time. There is no cancellation fee and no notice period, the subscription stops renewing, and your access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. The route we commit to in writing is an email to our support address, which section 4 of the terms of service gives. There is also a billing-portal control inside the product, but what our payment provider's portal lets you do there is a configuration we have not read off yet, and section 4 says so rather than promising it. What currency am I billed in, and is tax added?

Prices are shown and charged in US dollars. VAT and the merchant-of-record position are open items, not settled ones. We publish the register that names them and what would force each one to be answered. Read the open-items register

Is my data mine, and what can I take with me?

Your records stay yours throughout. You can export every invoice as a PDF document at any time, and revenue reports as CSV files. There is no one-click export of the complete account: a full export, or deletion, is done by hand within 30 days of a request we can verify. If the contract ends, your data is kept for 30 days so you can still ask for it. Section 7 of the terms of service sets this out, including what it does not cover. Read the terms of service

Is LingoDesk a CAT tool?

No. It does not translate, it holds no translation memories and it opens no bilingual files. It is the business side of the work — clients, projects, rates, invoices and what you earned — and it is built to sit beside whichever CAT tool you already use rather than to replace it.

Renewal, cancellation and the terms a subscription runs on are set out in the terms of service. Read the terms of service

Fourteen days is enough to know
